The SEND Case Study

It's been three months since Dialect launched Blinks and Actions, and the growth has been remarkable. The Dialect registry now features over 450 Blinks, and there have been three Blinkathons, including a major one with more than 100 submissions and $30,000 in prizes awarded. Amidst all this innovation, one project has stood out as a key driver of the Blinks ecosystem—$SEND. With over 30,000 followers on X, their bio simply reads, "A community token powering the Blinks Ecosystem on @Solana." However, this barely scratches the surface of what the SEND team is building. Let’s take a deeper look into the world of SEND and their impact on the ecosystem.

Just two days after Blinks went live, the SEND team published a thread with over 50 creative ideas for building with Blinks. The thread quickly went viral, sparking excitement and inspiring many people to start exploring and developing with Blinks and Actions. This surge of interest played a pivotal role in driving early momentum for the ecosystem.

A week later, the SEND team followed up with a record-breaking free NFT mint that set new milestones for Blinks and Solana alike. It became the biggest Blink by any metric at the time and the largest user-driven NFT mint on Solana, with 100,000 NFTs minted in less than 10 hours—all directly through X. The mint was held across over 12,000 unique wallets, cementing SEND’s role as a major force in driving engagement and adoption within the Blinks ecosystem.

Following the success of the NFT mint, the SEND team launched a "rent claim" Blink, which saw around 50,000 unique wallets claim rent from empty token accounts—all seamlessly executed through the Blink in the span of 4 days. This innovative use of Blinks further demonstrated SEND’s ability to engage users with practical, real-world applications, pushing the boundaries of what’s possible within the Blinks ecosystem.

The SEND team continued their momentum by releasing another viral thread, this time featuring 100+ new ideas for building with Blinks. This thread further ignited the creativity of the community, inspiring even more builders to dive into the Blinks ecosystem and explore new possibilities. SEND's consistent efforts has played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of innovation around Blinks and Actions.

On July 14th, the SEND team announced the launch of the $SEND token, detailing its distribution and release schedule. The breakdown was as follows:

  • 25% allocated to community airdrops for Blinks builders/users, 'Send it' holders, and members of top Solana communities.

  • 15% allocated to early supporters who believed in the project back when it was just an idea.

  •  10% allocated to seed initial liquidity, with LP tokens burned permanently to guarantee stable liquidity over time.

  • 15% allocated to core contributors who have been advancing SEND and the broader Blinks ecosystem since day one, ensuring the long-term success of the project.

  • 35% allocated to the treasury for grants and future development to continue growing the Blinks ecosystem.

This structured distribution aimed to reward community involvement while ensuring sustainable growth for SEND and the Blinks ecosystem as a whole.

The Token Generation Event (TGE) for $SEND was planned through a Meteora Alpha Vault, and the anticipation was through the roof. The excitement led to the vault being oversubscribed by over 72000% (720x), showcasing the immense demand and community interest in the project. This overwhelming response further solidified SEND’s position as a major player in the Blinks ecosystem.

On July 16th, the SEND team launched “Only Blinks,” an Explorer designed specifically for builders to submit and discover both verified and unverified Blinks. This innovative platform not only enhanced visibility for various projects within the ecosystem but also fostered collaboration and creativity among builders. By providing a centralized space for exploration, “Only Blinks” aimed to streamline the process of finding and showcasing Blinks, further empowering the community.

On July 19th, the SEND team announced the first-ever Blinkathon, set to take place from July 20th to 21st. This event aimed to bring together builders and enthusiasts to collaborate and create innovative Blinks. We covered the impressive projects developed during the Blinkathon, showcasing the creativity and ingenuity of participants in pushing the boundaries of the Blinks ecosystem.

On July 31st, the SEND team launched their airdrop to various Solana communities, starting with holders of the Solana Mobile Chapter 2 NFT. This was followed by airdrops for BONK lockers, Builders, Blinks developers, creators, and broader Solana talent communities. All these airdrops were claimable via a Blink, reinforcing the utility of the Blink infrastructure and further engaging the community in the growing ecosystem.

On August 13th, the SEND Arcade launched its first Blink— CheckMate, a community chess game accessible via a Blink. In this interactive format, players can take turns making moves as either Black or White while wagering with SOL. If your team wins, you earn SEND tokens, with the betting amount determined by your side's winning odds: the higher the odds, the larger the bet. To further enhance the gaming experience, players receive an NFT for every move they make, rewarding their engagement in the SEND ecosystem. To encourage gameplay, the SEND team also announced an incentive of 100,000 SEND tokens, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

On August 21st, the SEND team announced the first Community-powered Blinkathon, featuring sponsors from various tracks, including Superteam (India, Vietnam, Germany), Carrot, Tensor, Solana Foundation, BagsApp, MetaBlinks, Helius, Metaplex, Dialect, Squads, OKx, Kamino Finance, and AllDomains. The event attracted over 70 teams, resulting in more than 100 submissions. This collaborative effort highlighted the growing interest and creativity within the Blinks ecosystem. For more information on the winners, you can check out the details here.

On September 13th, the SEND team launched Double or Nothing, a degen coin flip game where players can flip to win SEND tokens. This exciting Blink quickly gained traction, resulting in over 4,000 flips, with 1,988 wins and 2,012 losses recorded. The game generated more than $150,000 in volume across 272 unique wallets.

On September 30th, the SEND team launched Solana Score, a Blink that allows users to check their Solana activity and generate a graph of their on-chain interactions. Users can also mint their activity as an NFT and refer others to earn fees. In the first 24 hours after launch, over 750 wallets interacted with Solana Score, resulting in more than 200 NFTs minted.

On October 3rd, the SEND team launched Snakes and Ladders through Send Arcade, bringing a classic game to the Blinks ecosystem. Players have the chance to win SEND tokens, BONK, and NFTs such as SMB Gen3, MadLads, and Tensorians. So far, over 300+ games have been played via this Blink, with more than 4,600 dice rolls recorded. It has quickly become one of their most engaging Blinks yet.

Conclusion

The SEND team’s impact extends beyond their own innovations, as they’ve also helped launch Blinks for top ecosystem companies like Streamflow and RainFi. The Streamflow airdrop Blink, in particular, was a standout success, with 21,000 wallets claiming airdrops directly through Twitter.

The journey of the SEND team within the Blinks ecosystem has been nothing short of transformative. From the initial excitement surrounding the launch of the $SEND token to the introduction of innovative Blinks like CheckMate, Solana Score, and Snakes and Ladders, the team has consistently pushed the boundaries of engagement and community-building.

By leveraging community-driven initiatives like Blinkathons and airdrops, SEND has effectively fostered a vibrant environment that encourages creativity and collaboration among builders. The impressive metrics—such as thousands of participants, record-breaking mints, and substantial transaction volumes—highlight the success of their strategic approach.

Furthermore, the introduction of gamified experiences and practical tools has not only captured user interest but has also created lasting connections within the ecosystem. As SEND continues to evolve and innovate, it stands poised to play a crucial role in shaping the future of the Blinks ecosystem and the broader Solana community. The ongoing engagement and enthusiasm of users signify a promising horizon for SEND and its mission to empower builders and enrich the blockchain experience.
